Travel
Tips
1.
Money
- Put
your money on your body, preferably under your clothes. It is
best not
to carry your billfold in your back pocket.
2.
Bring only items that are old or you do not mind losing,
leaving, or ruining.
3.
Luggage:
- One
carry on and one checked suitcase are allowed, unless you are requested
to bring items with you for the missionaries.
- We
would prefer if your suitcase was some type of duffel bag (These are
easier to throw on top of the vehicle).
- If
you bring a second bag it will be locked up, at the hotel, when we
travel out to the bush country.
- If
you want room for souvenirs on your way back home, then pack a smaller
duffel bag inside of your big
bag.
- Write
your name, address and phone number on every piece of luggage you
bring, including your carry-on.
- Please
try to travel light!
4.
Clothes:
- You
should bring a maximum of five changes of clothes.
- Women
will be expected to wear dresses or skirts at all times
- Men
may wear T-shirts, jeans, and shorts.
- However
if you have any part in the ministry services you will be expected to
wear Kaki pants or jeans and a white collar shirt.
- Please
bring a light jacket, it gets a little chilly at night.
- Bring
old clothes. Some of your belongings could become permanently stained.
- Bring
light colored clothing. ITS MUCH COOLER!!
- It
is good to pack your clothing in Jumbo size zip-lock bags.
- Do
not bring an Iron! (learn to live with wrinkles)
- Bring
some flip-flops/sandals to shower/bathe in
5.
Passport, Airline Ticket, and Shot Record
- Make
two photo copies of your passport, airline ticket, and shot record. One
copy needs to stay at home and the other copy needs to go to Marigold
once you arrive to your destination. Make sure you bring the
official copy of your passport, airline ticket, and shot record, to
keep with you.
6.
Medicines:
- Only
bring medicines you take on a regular basis. All other
pharmaceuticals can be obtained abroad.
- Bring
only the amount of medicines and vitamins you will need in small
zip-lock bags. This is best, rather than bringing the whole bottle.
7.
Please bring Mosquito repellant. We recommend
Skintastic.
8.
Purell Hand Sanitizer
- Bring
a small pocket sized bottle to carry around with you during the day and
a larger bottle to refill it with in the evenings. (There
won’t be any sinks in the bush)
9.
Bring travel sized Kleenex
10.
Some hotels do not provide:
- An
alarm clock
- Washcloths
(Bring a washcloth in a zip-lock bag. After you use it you can put it
right back into the zip-lock so it doesn’t get your other
things wet.)
- Shampoo,
Conditioner, and Soap
11.
If you are Tent Camping in the Bush you need to:
- Bring
a sleeping bag or some type of bedding and a pillow. (Keep in
mind that it gets a little chilly at night)
- Bring
a water bottle that can be refilled for drinking water.
- Bring
a small flashlight and extra batteries
- Remember
Towels and any thing that you use on a regular basis to shower/bathe
